Galerie NTK presents an exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian art in the premises of the Kabinet Helix.
The exhibition "Distant Presence" brings together Ukrainian artists, mostly of the youngest generation, who came to the Czech Republic at the beginning of the full invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army. Most of them experienced the beginnings of the occupation firsthand. This experience prevents them from completely dissolving in the local environment and mentally cutting themselves off from what was happening at home.
The core of the exhibition are comics from the publication "When It Began", which presents the stories of very young people whose lives and perception of the world were drastically transformed by the war.
Other exhibited paintings and objects reflect the memories and thoughts of those who, although living in safety, are constantly mentally connected to the dramatic events taking place in their homeland.
The publication "When It Began" was realized at the Academy of Fine Arts with the support of EUNIC and its editors are Alice Nikitinová and Petra Dobruská.
